Why It’s important to talk about porn

You only have to look at the statistics to understand the enormity of the porn industry. Last year, according to PornHub, there were 28.5 billion visitors with 81 million a day and 50,000 searches a minute.  And that’s only one site. Yet, most people will publicly shun or not even talk about it. Look around, don’t you now wonder who isn’t looking at porn as opposed to who is? Have you also ever questioned why on the customs declaration form it asks you if you are carrying illegal pornography and what that even means? In a nut shell, anything violent and where someone looks underage is illegal. So even if the person in the film is over age, if they look young, it’s not allowed on our shores. But isn’t ‘looking young’ a matter of opinion? Is a tartan skirt and pigtails all it takes? When I investigated this, I…

Being a successful male porn star is more complicated than you might think

One of the perks of my job is being able to have access to some interesting people and I’m not sure why, but throughout the years I have gravitated to those in porn. Mainly because I have become fascinated as to how the in industry works. Ericka Ikon owner of The Rub PR, who looks after many adult stars explains that for a male star, the road to success is not…

Busting the myths of porn with Australia’s most successful export

But there’s a good reason you might not have heard about it, because Angela White is a porn star. I first met Angela (her real name and porn name) six years ago at a Sexpo in Townsville, and it was pointed out to me back then by Australian adult industry insiders how business-minded she was and how successful she would be. Standing with her in Las Vegas as she collected an unprecedented 14 awards at the 35th annual Adult Video News Awards (widely known as “the Oscars of porn”), I had a proud moment. This is a controversial and taboo world but it does not mean we shouldn’t celebrate her achievements. White is the only Aussie to have ever been inducted into the AVN…

Why I’m Attending A Porn Conference?

Why the AVNs? ( A big porn conference in Vegas). I have always been fascinated by the porn world, the industry that is. Over the years, starting off in my early career working at Sexpo, I have the privilege of getting to know some of the industry’s biggest names. But I was pleasantly surprised by what I got to see. I remember writing my first piece on porn stars and it was titled, “porn stars are people too.” I think we all have this idea and stereotype of what a porn star should be. But with the exception of a few, mostly they are normal average people who are in touch with their sexuality. (Please note, I hate using the world normal in sentences like this as what is normal anyway? But for the purpose of trying to prove my point in regards to porn stars and how many people…
