If a man is straight but experiments with another man once before in this life, does that make him gay or even bi sexual? I’m dating a guy who has and I’m wondering if I should be questioning his sexuality?
Let me ask you a similar question in reverse to help you answer this. If a woman experiments once in her life with another woman does that make her gay or bi sexual? We are a society that eroticises two women being together, but any affection or even a look from one man to another, and they are labelled gay.
Most of us have wondered what it was like to be with someone of the same sex whether we want to admit it or not. It’s only natural to be curious about what is out there and what experiences can be had, especially in today’s hypersexual culture.
Unfortunately for men though, their masculinity is at risk. We are so hard on men to be tough and strong and masculine and generally that means also being the alpha man that beds lots of woman (or at least one but often). If they have a sexual experience with another man, can they still be that masculine guy or gay and given feminine attributes? I also feel like that is one of the problems with thinking that all men who are gay are feminine. Why can’t you be into men and masculine?
Being gay or bi sexual is about who you are predominantly attracted to, not how masculine or feminine you are. It’s good for people to experiment with their sexuality so they understand it better and know where their sexual desires come from. If this guy has been with another man before but is attracted to woman, then he is not gay. Just a man who has experimented with his sexuality before. Some men who are gay experiment with woman, but it doesn’t make them straight cause they are still predominately attracted to men.
If you have any concerns about it, talk to him. Understand why he did it and how he felt about it. He might appreciate being able to have an honest conversation with you about this and it could bring you closer together.
